Last night marks the second time I attended a live performance of crooked fingers. The venue, johnny brenda’s, is anchored in a burgeoning neighborhood with a reputation as a “hipster” joint with great beer, great food, and a venue where you can get up close to some awesome bands.

Arriving a little early, I picked a spot in the corner of the back bar and soon realized that just a few feet away, sat the unassuming Eric Bachmann and Liz Durrett. I admit to spending the next several minutes crafting—in my head—how best to walk over and express how much I respect and admire their musical genius. But, I refrained—it’s probably annoying when people come up and do that? So, I resigned to simply attending their show as my display of gratitude…after all, isn’t the best compliment to an artist investing in their art? Eric and Liz, the drummer, and bassist were great!
